But let’s be honest, they can also feel a bit chaotic if you’re not prepared. With so many vendors, stalls, freebies, and options, it’s easy to leave feeling overwhelmed instead of inspired.


As a wedding photographer who’s both exhibited at and attended many expos, I’ve gathered a few golden tips to help you make the most of the day — so you walk away with everything you need, minus the stress.

1. Wear Comfy Shoes (Seriously!)


You’ll be walking a lot. Wedding expos are often held in large venues, and there’s nothing worse than being halfway through the show and realising your shoes are plotting your downfall. Go cute and comfy.

2. Dress Up and Take Photos – This Is Part of the Fun!


This is a core memory in the making, so wear something you feel confident in and take allll the pictures. Whether it’s selfies with your wedding party, snaps of inspiration, or dreamy dresses — capture it! This day should feel as fun as cake tastings and Pinterest scrolling.

 3. unpopular opinion: Leave Your Partner at Home


Unless your partner is genuinely excited to be there, don’t drag them along. Wedding expos can feel overwhelming and fast-paced, and let’s face it — your partner might just end up bored and slowing you down. Bring your wedding party or a friend who’s as hyped about weddings as you are. You’ll laugh more, enjoy it more, and probably get way more out of the day.

4. Grab Pamphlets, Take Photos & Make Notes


You don’t need to make decisions on the day — but gather everything. Pamphlets, QR codes, business cards, airdrops, the works. Then, once the dust settles, you can share everything with your partner and arrange meetings with the vendors who impressed you.

5. Bring a Notebook or Appoint a Note-Taker


Designate someone from your group to jot down key notes — especially about the suppliers you’re vibing with. Jot down first impressions, their names, and anything unique that stood out (e.g. “photographer with dreamy light and dog pics!”).


 6. Enter All the Competitions


Most vendors run giveaways, and you’d be surprised how often real couples actually win them! Have your wedding party memorise your email and phone number so they can help you enter while you’re chatting to someone else.

7. Pause and Breathe – Chaos is Normal


These expos can get busy. Crowds, conversations, and constant stimulation. If you start to feel a bit overwhelmed, grab a coffee and take a moment. There’s no need to rush — take your time at each stall (even the ones you think you don’t need). You might just discover a gem you never considered.

8. Hoping to Find The Dress? Pack These:


  • Your wedding shoes (or similar heel height)
  • Jewelry you plan to wear
  • Nude/seamless underwear or shapewear
  • A friend who will hype you up and give honest feedback
