Bonjour, enchante!

I'm Abi, but you can refer to me as your wedding photographer ;)

I am a timeless, documentary style wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Pretoria, South Africa. I am always up for an adventure, so you can be sure that I will do pretty much anything to get that perfect shot!

I am infatuated with colour and contrast and this is how I choose to preserve your memories, real colours, teeming with life and vivid black and white portraits telling a story of feeling and sentiment.

My journey with photography started when I didn’t even know it was a thing. I used to photograph my doll’s weddings in the garden outside my granfather's house underneath the Frangipani tree with my dad’s cell phone when I was little. Later on, my parents bought me my first “point & shoot” camera for a birthday and from there I just started photographing everything, from our dogs to the random plants in my mom’s garden.  It was in high school where I truly realised what photography meant to me and I knew that this was what I wanted to do with my life. I got my first DSLR Camera for Christmas in 2012, did a few fun photography courses at school but nothing serious yet. I started building my business very slowly in high school and went on to get my Higher Certificate in photography at Vega in 2016. From there it was hard work, sweat and tears to get my brand where it is today.

I am a 27 year minimalist with incredibly big dreams. I have a remarkable rescue dog named Dino, that I believe must be the love of my life and a shoe and handbag collection that’s just big enough to take up way to much space in a shared closet.

I have two out of this world parents, an amazing husband and the most wonderful friends & Family who support my crazy ventures and ideas, even when they seem unrealistic. I love people, raw emotion, rainy days in a comfy bed, time spent with friends and family and I get foolishly excited when animals are in the vicinity.( Bring your dog to your wedding or photoshoot, I dare you!). I have a weakness for delicious food, listening to loud music on Sunday afternoons, attending crazy festivals, discovering new places and meeting new people.

I tend to be a very emotional person and attach sentiment to everything( it must be the French in me sticking it's head out), that’s why I love working with people and sharing in the joy and happiness of others. I form a relationship with my clients, get to know them and in result have the ability to capture the essence of who they are, what their souls are made of and a true reflection of their life, relationship and personality.

And yes, I absolutely do cry when the dad sees the bride for the first time on her wedding day, during the walk down the aisle, the emotional speeches during reception and of course the first dance. I quite frequently find myself sobbing on the wedding reception dance floor, barely being able to see through my view finder due to something said during speeches, and I'm not even sorry about it.

I am not just another vendor you need for your wedding. This isn’t just my job, it’s my life. I know everyone says that but if you know me, you’ll know what I mean. This means long drives away from home, late nights editing with a cup of hot chocolate because 12Am is definitely my creative hour, it’s having your weekends be your workdays, missing out on family gatherings and hardly ever being in any of the pictures.

But I choose this life and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

Let's grab a coffee and chat about what makes up your soul, unleashes the butterflies in your stomach, what makes you beam from within, and I'll be sure to capture your essence perfectly.

This is my impression.
